Busiest Floral Holidays Are All in Spring

If you are a florist and own your own shop, you know that the spring is one of the busiest times of year for florists. There are three major holidays that typically warrant flower orders and deliveries this time of year: Valentine’s Day, Easter and Mother’s Day. With all three of these holidays coming up, most florists are already bracing for impact now. The traffic and orders that a florist received during the spring months are some of the most important to the business all year.

Floral ShopsAccording to the Society of American Florists, Mother’s Day is the second-busiest floral holiday for most florists, beat out only by Christmas and Hanukkah. Statistics from a National Retail Federation survey say that florists can expect to get as much as 25 percent of their entire volume of dollars spent per year just from Mother’s Day. Valentine’s Day ties Mother’s Day for another 25 percent, although the number of transactions is a bit lower. In fourth place is Easter, which takes up about 10 percent of dollars spent at florists. NRF also says that in 2016, an estimated $2.4 billion – with a B – was spent on Mother’s Day flowers alone!
